Big Sis DJs started life in 2024 as a DJ Collective for women and non-binary folk age 30 plus in our hometown of Stroud. We started off just the three of us - Neon Pumps, K-Dee and Trudy Turner - putting on club nights with a central tenet of joy, playfulness and community. Our first two events completely sold out and we had loads of people coming up to us wanting to be a part of the vibe.

We began offering DJ taster sessions for folks to try their hand at mixing, get an introduction to DJ equipment and basic techniques, and perhaps most importantly to overcome the perceived obstacles to participation for women and non-binary folk in the DJ community.

This led to taking on some 121 students for private tuition and launching a few 6- week beginner DJ courses. We have been blown away by the response, with over 45 people joining taster sessions and 18 registering for beginners courses.

From the first two cohorts to graduate in Stroud and Cheltenham, 8 out of the 12 participants have performed at our events within a few weeks of graduating the course and absolutely smashed their sets. 

So what’s next for Big Sis DJs? We have now expanded to become a thriving community of dj learners and practitioners, and are booked to perform at festivals and events across the South West. We also offer private hire DJ services and have a range of DJs with different genre specialities to suit any occasion.
